Broken Heart Gallery is a place for stories, quotes, photos and memories about love, loss and healing. Many people who visit or write to us are going through something painful, so we treat your privacy with real care. This page explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have.

02Information we collect

We only collect what we need to run the site and to hear from you.

Information you give us. Your name and email address when you use the Contact form or subscribe to our newsletter, and anything you write in your message.
Stories, letters, photos and memories. If you choose to share a story, gift, letter, photo or memory with us, we receive that content together with any personal details you include in it.
Comments. If comments are enabled on a post, we store the name, email address and comment you submit.
Technical information. Like most websites, our server and tools may automatically record your IP address, browser type, device, the pages you visit and the time you visit them.
Cookies. Small files stored on your device that help the site work and help us understand how it is used (see section 6).

To send you new blog posts and updates if you subscribed to our newsletter.
To review, and with your permission publish, the stories and photos you send us.
To keep the website secure, fix problems and improve how it looks and works.
To understand which posts and pages people find helpful.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent it to anyone.

04Your stories and photos

We understand how personal these are. Nothing you send us will be published without your permission, and we will ask before sharing anything that could identify you. If you would like your story shared anonymously, or under a different name, just tell us and we will respect that.

You can ask us at any time to edit or remove a story, photo or message you sent. Please send the request to brokenheartgallery@gmail.com. Once something has been published on the site, it may have already been seen or shared by others, but we will remove it from our website as soon as we can.

Please only send us photos and stories that belong to you, or that you have permission to share. Do not send other people’s private details.

05Newsletter

If you subscribe, we use your email address only to send you our blog updates. Every email can be unsubscribed from, and you can also ask us directly to remove you from the list.

06Cookies and analytics

Our website is built with WordPress and Elementor, which use essential cookies so that pages, forms and menus work correctly. We may also use analytics tools to see, in aggregate, how visitors use the site.

You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.

07Third-party services and links

Our site uses or links to services run by other companies, which have their own privacy policies:

Social media – Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn and X (Twitter) share buttons and profile links. Clicking them takes you to those platforms.
Google Fonts – used to display the fonts on this site, which means your browser requests them from Google’s servers.
Video and embedded content – videos on our Videos page may be hosted by a video platform that can set its own cookies when you play them.
Hosting and email providers – who store the website data and deliver our emails on our behalf.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites, so please read their policies before sharing your information with them.

08How long we keep information

We keep your messages and newsletter details only for as long as we need them for the purposes above, or until you ask us to delete them. Technical logs are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.

09How we protect your information

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including using a secure (HTTPS) connection and restricting who can access the data. However, no website or internet transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

tell you what personal information we hold about you;
correct information that is wrong;
delete your information, including any story, photo or message you sent;
stop sending you newsletter emails.

11Children

Broken Heart Gallery is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to check it now and then.
